I'm wondering about the logic of those popups and permission-seekers we see everwhere, asking whether they can be invasively nosy about what we're doing and then offering us the choice between "OK" or "Maybe Later".
Do they think they're going to wear down our resistance if we don't want to play along with their bullshit, or are they simply hoping that sooner or later we'll click "OK" by accident, and then they've got us opted in for life? Can they not conceive the notion that we might just get more and more pissed off every time we're forced to repeat "Maybe Later", until eventually we reach the point where we just say, Fuck This Shit, and delete the app/blacklist the website?
I have trouble trying to imagine the sort of mind that thinks this behaviour is OK.
It seems to me the mentality of the rapist -- the person for whom "No" doesn't really mean "No".
